Situation
How do you manage someone with a normal
CXR, no specific history and haemoptysis ?
Obviously books written on this, but as a registrar
Advise cessation of
smoking.
Exclude a
haemaotological cause
Exclude pulmonary
hypertension and cardiac causes eg mitral stenosis by echo.
Repeat HRCT scanning
Bronchoscopy at time
of haemoptysis to assess if cause is localised or generalised.
